Study Committee Formed to Address Citizenship Issues

Kathmandu: The Ministry of Home Affairs has established a five-member study committee to address ongoing citizenship issues in Nepal. The committee, led by Tok Raj Pandey, Chief of the Policy, Plan, Monitoring, and Evaluation Division of the Home Ministry, will investigate problems related to citizenship and propose solutions.
Committee members include representatives from the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM), the Ministry of Law, the Legal Division, and the Citizenship and National Identity Card Management Section of the Home Ministry.
The committee has been tasked with submitting its report by October 1. Its mandate includes identifying current challenges faced by citizens regarding citizenship and providing recommendations for revising existing laws, regulations, and procedures to resolve these issues.
The committee’s formation follows a discussion chaired by Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak on the draft procedure for issuing and managing Nepali citizenship certificates.
